Carrara Markets is Australia’s largest marketplace. Open every Saturday and Sunday from 7 AM to 3 PM, it offers over 400 food and variety stalls and attractions. Are you looking for fruits and vegetables? Potted plants and flowers? Or maybe fashion items like shoes, bags and jewellery? Name it and Carrara Markets have it. The 24-acre market is home to a wide-array of fresh produce and local products.

Just a 10-15 minute drive from Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach, the place is not only a popular Gold Coast shopping precinct for tourist and locals. It’s also a great family destination thanks to attractions like Luke’s Reptile Kingdom, Baby Animal Farm and Carrara Mini Golf.

The Village Markets (TVM) was created in 2008 to provide a place for local designers and collectors to showcase products like clothing, art and homewares, furniture and handcrafted items. It aims to provide a sense of community for small businesses, artists, and musicians. Lineups of stalls, food trucks, live music and other events give shoppers a positive vibe in this local market. TVM opens every first and third Sunday of the month at Burleigh Heads State School from 8:30AM to 1PM.

NightQuarter

 

‘A Festival Every Weekend’ is the tagline of NightQuarter Market in the suburb of Helensvale. Experience the precinct’s night market with live entertainment featuring Australia’s best local bands and musicians, performing on the music space called “The Poddock”. Enjoy the performances after your shopping from stalls selling locally handmade crafts, vintage collectibles, fashionable clothes and variety of food selections.

Also try some of NightQuarter’s food tours like Dessert Tour, Beer Tasting and Barbecue Cooking, and Backyard Grill Experience. By the way, NightQuarter is not only for adults, so don’t hesitate to bring your kids because they too can enjoy with Kid’s Carnival. NightQuarter is open every Saturday and Sunday from 4 PM to 10 PM and has an admission fee of $3. Although the place is a good 16 km north of Surfers Paradise, the experience is very well worth the travel time and money.

Another local market located at Burleigh Heads State School in Burleigh Heads, this is a must visit if you are looking for a wide selection of fruits and vegetables, meat, fish and other fresh produce. You can also buy locally made products from assortments of food, arrangements of plants and flowers, to collectible arts and crafts.
